Hi, I’m Matt Dawsey

I’m a Product Design Leader with 15+ years of experience orchestrating teams, systems, and strategy to shape consumer experiences that grow, scale, and make sense to real people. I bring structure to ambiguity, energy to stuck work, and a steady hand when things get complex.

What I believe in

  • Design is only as strong as the collaboration behind it

  • Clear systems empower creative freedom

  • Make it real. Then make it better.

  • Measure what matters

  • Feedback is a gift and critique is a practice

  • Good process should feel invisible

  • Stay curious, stay kind

When I'm not designing

  • Reading mystery novels or watching “whodunnits”

  • Doing the bidding of the two English Bulldogs that run the house

  • Painting and drawing, mostly on the iPad, some watercolor

  • Eating all of the food

  • Playing around with vibe-coding projects

  • A giant cold brew with half & half and peppermint

Motto

“Nothing to it but to do it.”

My role

MyFitnessPal

Senior Manager, Product Design

I believe great design happens when strategy, empathy, and execution come together with clarity. My approach is grounded in systems thinking, honest collaboration, and a focus on outcomes that matter, for both the business and the people using the product.

As a design leader, I help teams do their best work by creating the conditions for clarity, momentum, and growth. I care deeply about building scalable systems, coaching strong designers, and shaping experiences that are thoughtful, intuitive, and grounded in real human needs.

What drives me is the intersection of craft and impact, turning complexity into simplicity, ambiguity into direction, and potential into progress.

  • Shaped design strategy across product pillars like Progress, Premium+, and Search

  • Led a ground-up redesign of MyFitnessPal’s core information architecture, introducing Jobs-To-Be-Done frameworks, card sorts, and new navigation patterns that improved usability and increased daily engagement by 5–8%.

  • Launched Premium+ Meal Planner with 59K+ billable events, boosting upsell value

  • Drove $3.2M–$7.5M in annual revenue through trial experiment design and paywall optimization

  • Transitioned design system (Vitamin) in-house, improving release cycles and stability

  • Piloted AI into research, flows, and prototyping, ensuring trust and transparency
